Between the Lines: Kitchen Table Politics

Between the Lines is Kitchen Table Politics — connecting food bills, trade deals, and civic choices to the global forces shaping our future. We look past headlines to the policies, economics, and quiet shifts that decide how families live, work, and thrive.

Note from the editor

Welcome to Between the Lines: Kitchen Table Politics. I’m Leni, and this is my corner of the internet where politics, economics, and everyday life meet at the kitchen table. Here I try to make sense of the big forces shaping our lives — trade, food, sovereignty, and community — and what they mean for families, towns, and futures. I believe stories grounded in history and research can also feel human and approachable. That’s why you won’t find hot takes or clickbait here. What you will find are essays told with care and clarity, a dose of curiosity, and an eye toward how ordinary people can act with purpose. Between the Lines began as a Canadian-focused project, but the stories here often carry a wider lens — connecting local choices to global shifts, and showing how communities everywhere can find resilience. If you’ve ever read the news and wondered, “But what does this really mean for me, for my town, or for my kids?” then you’ve pulled up the right chair. Thanks for being here. Truly. — Leni ✍️

I write where systems meet stories — politics, people, patterns, and the space between. Sometimes sharp, sometimes soft. Always curious.
